About Jobs for Youth
Jobs for Youth is a year-round program designed to help young people develop their job search skills. The program provides employment services to all youth between the ages of 14-21 years old at no cost to them or to employers. There are no eligibility requirements to join this program.
The Jobs for Youth Program began in 1982 serving all youth 14-21 years of age with employment services. Services do not have specific eligibility or income requirements and are available to serve all youth regardless of socio-economic or risk level. Each year, Jobs for Youth serves over 3,000 youth with employment services. Many of these youth are considered at-risk including teens from the juvenile system, continuation schools, and foster youth. Services include:
- Orientations to youth services through the PeninsulaWork-One Stop centers
- Job preparation workshops that teach youth about job applications, create resumes, and interview preparation skills
- One-on-One mock interviews with youth employment counselors
- Job referrals to hiring employers
- Volunteer and paid internship opportunies
Jobs for Youth employment counselors perform outreach to schools, after school programs, and local agencies to discuss Jobs for Youth services. In addition, Jobs for Youth employment counselors contact employers to maintain an active list of hiring employers.
